MONICA G. has trained with the Gainesville School of Ballet for the last thirteen years. This past summer, she attended the South Carolina Dance Conservatory summer intensive training with Susan Anderson, Stacey Calvert, Tatiana Legat, Norbert Nirewicz, and McCree O’Kelley. Monica has also participated in summer intensives with Atlanta Ballet-Milledgeville and Atlanta Ballet-Western Carolina. She is a volunteer teacher with Gainesville Ballet’s Boys and Girls Club Ballet Outreach Program; and she enjoyed dancing the role of “Clara” in The Nutcracker her first year in the Junior Company. Monica is a junior honor student at North Hall High School. She is on the newspaper staff, where she enjoys writing about the arts, especially dance. Monica performed in Skater Trio in The Nutcracker this season. She is very pleased to be in her second season with the Gainesville Ballet Company. |

PHALAN H. has trained with the Gainesville School of Ballet for fourteen years. Her ballet intensives include the Atlanta Ballet company, in Milledgeville and the Alabama Ballet in Birmingham. As a junior company member, Phalan performed the role of “Clara” in The Nutcracker, and the title role in last year’s spring concert The Brown Velveteen Rabbit. Phalan loves children. She is a volunteer teacher with Gainesville Ballet’s Boys and Girls Club Ballet Outreach Program. Phalan is a sophomore honor student at Gainesville High School where she participates in FCA, Key Club, and the theatre department. She is also a youth leader with the First Presbyterian Church and has participated in several mission trips. This year Phalan danced the Candy Cane soloist in this season’s The Nutcracker. She is delighted to be in her second year in the company!

MARY VICTORIA R. is an eighth grade honor student at North Hall Middle School, where she is a part of the band and is secretary of the Junior Beta Club. A Gainesville native, Mary Victoria participates in the youth group and youth choir at First Baptist Church, Gainesville. Some of her other hobbies include reading, art, music, and spending time with her friends and family. This is her twelfth year training with the Gainesville School of Ballet and her first season with the Gainesville Ballet Company . |

MAGGIE S. has been studying dance for eleven years, the last five with the Gainesville School of Ballet. Maggie recently attended the American Ballet Theater’s summer intensive in Alabama and greatly enjoyed the experience. She is an eighth grade honor student at North Hall Middle School where she is a member of the Junior Beta Club and has received numerous academic awards including the Spanish, Language Arts, and All A’s Awards. Maggie has also received state recognition in the Duke TIP talent search program. When not dancing, Maggie enjoys reading, drawing and spending time with her family. She is completely ecstatic to be in her first season with the Gainesville Ballet Company.

SALLY J. has studied ballet at the Gainesville School of Ballet for the past ten years. She has attended summer intensives with the Atlanta Ballet, The Rock School and Orlando Ballet. In last year’s Nutcracker, Sally performed in the Russian pas de deux and the Angel soloist. Last spring she performed as the “Nursery Fairy” in The Brown Velveteen Rabbit. Sally is a junior at West Hall High School where she is a member of the National Beta Club, National Honor Society, National High School Scholars Society, Art Club, Spanish Club and Secretary of the Junior Class. She has been selected to participate in the Hall Honors Mentorship and the Hall County Chamber of Commerce Youth Leadership Program. She is a member of Hickory Flat Methodist Church where she often plays the piano. In this season’s Nutcracker, Sally performed as the soloist in The Spirit of Christmas and reprises the role of the Russian girl with Victor Galuppo, who is currently dancing with the Atlanta Ballet. Sally is in her second season as a member of the Gainesville Ballet Company.

MADELINE M. has studied dance for twelve years at the Gainesville School of Ballet. She has attended summer intensive programs with the Alabama Ballet in Birmingham and the Royal Dance Academy in Suwanee. While a member of the Gainesville Ballet Junior Company, Madeline performed the role of “Clara” in The Nutcracker. She is currently a freshman honor student at Gainesville High School, where she is a student council representative and a member of FCA. Madeline is also a member of the First Baptist Church in Gainesville, where she is an active member of the Sonlight Youth Choir and Handbell Choir. In this season’s Nutcracker, Madeline danced the soloist’s role in Marzipan. This is her second season with the Gainesville Ballet Company.
