In life as in dance: 

Grace glides on blistered feet.

CATHERINE C. a tenth grade home schooled student, has trained for nine years, the last five with the Gainesville School of Ballet.  Last spring, as an Apprentice I, Catherine performed her first soloist role as the Mother Duck toy in The Brown Velveteen Rabbit.  Catherine also works backstage helping with load-in, setup, light preparation and any tech assistance needed. She helps to build sets for the ballet company and assists in preparing and gathering props as needed. Catherine loves children!  She is the fourth child, and eldest daughter, in a family of ten children.  She assists with the education of her younger siblings and is active in her church youth group. Catherine has attended the Georgia Ballet summer intensive.  For the last two years, she has served as a Gainesville School of Ballet student demonstrator. This past summer, she was a student assistant in the Gainesville School of Ballet’s children’s dance camps. This is her first season to perform as a member of the Gainesville Ballet Company.

Cara W. has studied ballet for eleven years.  This is her first year training with the Gainesville School of Ballet.  For the last seven years, Cara studied with the Buford School of Ballet where in addition to ballet and pointe she learned jazz, musical theatre, tap, modern, break dancing and hip-hop.  Cara has attended Atlanta Ballet summer intensives. She is a freshman all honors student at Buford High School where she is a member of the Green Club, FCA, and dance line.  Cara attends the First Baptist Church of Sugar Hill where she helps organize mission trips. She is excited to be in her first season with the Gainesville Ballet Company.

 

BRIANNE W. has been studying dance for twelve years, the last four with the Gainesville School of Ballet.  This past summer she attended the three-week American Ballet Theatre summer intensive in Alabama. She is a freshmen honor student at Gainesville High School. While in middle school, she served on the student council and was president of her eighth grade class. In addition to dance, Brianne is active member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and is in the Youth Group at Lakewood Baptist Church. Brianne is really excited about her first year in the Gainesville Ballet Company!

 

BRELIN Z. is a principal dancer with the Gainesville Ballet Company she has performed the lead in many of the company’s contemporary works as well as many soloist roles in The Nutcracker including, “Russian,” “Skater Trio, and “Candy Canes.” From Cumming, Georgia, Brelin has trained in classical ballet for seventeen years.  She studied at Sawnee School of Ballet where she also trained in jazz, tap, and hip hop.  While there, her soloist roles included “Snow Queen”, “Dew Drop Fairy”, the “Spanish Dancer” and “Arabian Dancer” in The Nutcracker, “Dulcinea” in Don Quixote, Les Sylphides and Paquita.  Brelin has also taught jazz and tap at Sawnee School of Ballet, and has choreographed for the DeKalb School of the Arts. Brelin is a junior dance major at Brenau University, where she is on a dance and academic scholarship.  She has performed in Brenau’s Evening of Dance, Senior Thesis, and the Faculty Concert where she danced the role of “Marie Taglioni” in Pas de Quatre. This season Brelin will once again perform lead roles in two of the company’s contemporary works and danced the roles of Marzipan soloist and “Snow Queen” in this year’s Nutcracker.  This is Brelin’s second season with the Gainesville Ballet Company.

 

Chelsea R.-trainee has studied with the Gainesville School of Ballet for twelve years.   She is a sophomore at North Hall High School where she sings in the chorus and has received the Renaissance Award.  At her church, she sings in the youth choir and is a member of the praise team. Her hobbies include photography. Chelsea is happy to be dancing with the Gainesville Ballet Company!
