Gainesville Ballet Company I Dancers Travel to Perform at Festival
On March 8, 2008, Company I dancers from the Gainesville Ballet Company traveled to Southern Polytechnic State University in Marietta, Georgia to participate in the 2008 Atlanta BalletFest. The dancers performed two of their 2008 repertory pieces; “Snap, Crackle, and Pop” and “Por Amor.” BalletFest is an annual festival where regional ballet companies from around the southeast come together to take master classes and perform. This is the second year that Gainesville Ballet Company dancers have participated. |

Mule Camp Booth a Success
In October of last year, Gainesville Ballet Company once again continued a long-standing tradition with a successful booth at Mule Camp on the square in Downtown Gainesville. Mule Camp is sponsored by the Gainesville Jaycees. With the help of many volunteers – both dancers and parents – it was a fun and successful fundraiser for the company.
The company raises money in several ways during Mule Camp, by selling hairdos with themes advertising the upcoming season’s performances and used dance costumes. The hairdos are very popular with little girls who dream of becoming ballerinas. Since Mule Camp takes place in early October, the dance costumes offer a great opportunity for parents to get the perfect Halloween costume for their children. The company also sells merchandise such as Gainesville Ballet Company mugs, cookbooks, and posters.
Look for the GBC booth at the next Mule Camp in October of 2008. |
