She has worked closely with the noted ballerina Marina Eglevsky; and with Sally Streets of the New York City Ballet and Berkley Ballet Theatre. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from Arizona State University. Performing experience includes dancing with the Martha Graham Company and with the Murray Louis Company.

She has performed professionally with Atlanta Festival Ballet since 1994. Some of her most memorable roles include performing in Nicolas Pacaña’s original works; Summer’s Eve, Woman of Crystals and Hold On; and in Artistic Director Gregory Aaron’s Alice in Wonderland and Bella Amore. She has had the honor of performing such classical roles as Lady Capulet in Romeo and Juliet, The Fairy Godmother in Cinderella, Aurora and the Lilac Faity in Sleeping Beauty, Snow Queen, Arabian Princess and Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker, and Odette in Swan Lake

While in Atlanta Festival Ballet Company, Ms. Buchanan taught extensively for both the school and the company. As Co-Artistic Director, she continued the mission of Atlanta Festival Ballet and brought the experience and joy of dance to many under-priviliged children.  She has been instrumental in re-staging many classical and contemporary works in addition to recently choreographing a new ballet "A Tale of Two Sisters, A Frozen Ballet".

Miss Jocelyn has been on the faculty of Gainesville School of Ballet for over six years and has assisted Miss Diane with company rehearsals as well.  She is thrilled and honored to be Junior Company Artistic Director and is so excited to be a part of the Gainesville Ballet Company family.
