How do I know in which class to enroll my child? 

Initially, younger, less experienced children are placed based on age, but as dancers train and mature, their best placement may become less well-defined.  We care tremendously about placing students correctly so they will glean the maximum possible from each class while maintaining their self-esteem and love of dance.  Placement classes are complimentary and should be scheduled at 770-534-6282.  When you arrive, pick up your student’s Evaluation/Placement Form in the office.  Your child will give it to the instructor at the beginning of the class.  At the end of the day, the instructor will return the form to the office with the student’s recommended level.  We will contact you rapidly regarding your child’s appropriate placement. 

Are discounts available if my child takes more than one class or if I have more than one child enrolled?

Yes! Tuition is calculated based on the hours of instruction per week. View the enrollment agreement and general information form for more information. The office can help you determine the appropriate discount level for your family.

When is tuition due? Will you send me a bill?

Your tuition payment is due the first day of each month.  We do offer a ten day grace period; however, if payment is received after the 10th of the month a $15 late fee will be charged to your account.  We do not mail monthly statements however; we do supply coupon books for your convenience.

Where can I buy dance apparel?

 Many area dance apparel stores offer discounts when you mention the Gainesville School of Ballet/Gainesville Ballet Company. See the bulletin board in the studio hallway for information about special sales.

Every other year, the Gainesville Ballet Company (the non-profit arm of the Gainesville School of Ballet) holds a fundraiser selling gently used dance apparel.  The proceeds support costuming for its dancers. You will find tremendous buys at the sale!  You can also purchase dance apparel from on-line companies, such as Discount Dance Supply but it is important to know your dancer’s sizes. 

Please do not allow your child to wear his or her shoes until a teacher has approved them.   Please do not purchase new jazz shoes until the specific color needed for your child's recital piece is published.  This usually occurs in November.

Can my child perform in The Nutcracker?

That depends.  At age seven, with two years of training, students may audition for the role of a Sugar Plum Fairy Attendant in The Nutcracker.  Auditions are typically held in May, June & August.

What if I miss a class? Can I make it up?

Yes, we encourage you to do so!  Please refer to the make-up class schedule published the second week of classes or call the office.
